The VALENCIA COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY 2026 County Pre-Primary Convention will be called to order at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Belen Public Library, 333 Becker Ave. Belen, NM. Doors will open at 10am for registration.

All county residents who are registered Democrats in our county 30 days before the convention are eligible to run and vote at the convention.

After the Ward Meetings, we will hear from current candidates. We anticipate this starting earlier than we had originally planned at about 11:30am. 

What are the Ward Elections?

Each Ward is alotted 1 or 2 delegates to attend the DPNM 2026 Pre Primary Convention in March. The Ward Meetings will be to vote for those delegates. 

All Democrats who are eligible (must be registered as a Democrat as of 1/8/2026) will sign in (doors open at 10am) and on the nametags we will write your Ward and your Congressional District (CD). You will then go to your Ward’s table (they will be marked) and wait for the meetings to be called to order. The Ward Chairs will run the meetings. 

All voting will be done in-person during the Ward Meetings.

If you want to run for delegate, you do not have to be present but you must have someone present nominate you. Because there is typically more folks that want to be a delegate than there are delegate positions, we encourage you to be there in-person. If you want to vote, you MUST be there in-person.
