Dear Democrats of Valencia County,
Today is a pivotal moment—a day that carries the hopes and hard work of so many who believe in a brighter, safer, more inclusive future for our community. I want to take a moment to recognize each and every one of you who has given your time, energy, and passion to this campaign season. To the volunteers who have knocked on doors, made calls, staffed our headquarters, and helped organized events—you are the heartbeat of this movement, and I am profoundly grateful for your dedication.
To our candidates, local, state, and national, thank you for having the courage to stand up and be willing to represent us in a most impactful way. I have been incredibly impressed by the campaigns; Rustin Porter for Valencia County Clerk, Duana Draszkiewicz for County Commission Dist. 2, Charles Eaton for County Commission Dist. 4, Tina Garcia for NM Senate Dist. 29, Rep. Gabe Vasquez for US Congress CD 2, Rep. Melanie Stansbury for US Congress CD 1, and Sen. Martin Heinrich for US Senate.
They haven’t just asked for our votes; they have earned them.
I know that many of you may feel a mix of excitement, anxiety, and even fear as we await the results. These feelings are natural, and they reflect the depth of our commitment to creating meaningful change. But no matter the outcome tonight, we have to remember that our work does not end here. Our values and our vision extend far beyond any single election. We will continue advocating for justice, equity, and opportunity for all—today, tomorrow, and every day that follows.
Let’s continue to stand together, united in our purpose and resilient in our resolve. Thank you, Valencia County Democrats, for all that you do and all that you are.
With gratitude and solidarity,
Summer Ludwig
Chair, Democratic Party of Valencia County
