Hello Valencia County Democrats!
Tuesday’s primary election is over, and we have some exciting news! Valencia County now has a new Democratic State Senator in District 30, Angel Charley, and a new Democratic State Representative in District 69, Michelle “Paulene” Abeyta. Both of these seats are uncontested in the general election.
We also want to recognize the Democrats who ran in the primary but didn’t win. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to our shared democratic values. A special thank you to Rep. Harry Garcia, the incumbent in HD 69, for his 8 years of service in the NM Legislature.
Now, let’s come together to support our candidates who are facing opposition in the general election. We need EVERY Democrat in Valencia County to show up and VOTE!
There were some very optimistic results in the Primary. For example, Charles Eaton, who is running for County Commissioner, received more votes that the 2 Republicans combined. In races that Republicans cast more votes for their candidate(s), the difference was smaller than expected. This shows us that WE CAN and WE ARE making progress in Valencia County!
This election is vital, and it will be a lot of work on the ground. We NEED canvassers, we NEED phone bankers, and we NEED poll workers and challengers!
Please fill out the form on our website to sign up! If you have and you haven’t heard from someone, please let me know by emailing info@valenciademocrats.org.
We can only progress with hard work and determination; two things I KNOW we have! Your voice is important and valued, hearing from all Democratic voters is a privilege and one that I take very seriously. If there is something keeping you from being active in the Party, reach out and let me know. Working together to bring us together is our priority.
Thank you all so much,
Summer Ludwig, Chair DPVC
