We are in need of a Vice Chair and this opening is filled by a vote from the CCC.

Eligibility

Candidates must reside within the County and be a registered Democrat in Valencia County for 30 days prior to the election.

Nominations

Nominations of self or others may be made from the floor during the CCC Meeting.

We have three candidates that have either nominated themselves or were nominated. They are:

  • Deirdra Velasquez
  • Michael Melendez
  • Torres Leyba

You may receive phone calls and/or emails from these candidates during this process. You will have a chance to hear from them Saturday at the CCC Meeting.

Rule Change

We will be considering a rule change to allow the President of the VCFDW to have a voting spot on our Executive Committee and to make the Officer positions of Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer voting positions.

These changes will enable closer ties with our Federation of Democratic Women and ensure that those who volunteer their time and efforts as part of the Executive Committee have a voice at the table.

These rules are permitted supplemental rules to the DPNM rules. Currently, per DPNM rules, the Executive Committee consists of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer and all Ward Chairs. Only the Chair and Ward Chairs have voting power.

Election

There will be an in-person meeting of the CCC on Saturday, June 8th at 10am at the Belen Public Library, during this time, we will hear from the candidates for Vice Chair as well as our Rule Committee. We will be considering a rule change to allow the President of the VCFDW to have a voting spot on our Executive Committee and to make the Officer positions of Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer voting positions.

The ballots will be sent out on Sunday via email, June 9th and will need to be returned no later than 5pm on Thursday, June 13th.

Results

Results will be posted to the DPVC website by 5pm on Friday, June 14th.
