The Flexibility of the Democratic Party

Good morning! Thank you to everyone that came out for our General Meeting yesterday evening, June 20th. We had some unexpected roadblocks to getting the meeting started, namely being locked out of the building :). We hauled our things to a nice shady area behind the Community Center and set up an impromptu picnic!

While this worked well for those of us in person, it greatly hampered our ability to stream the meeting. We didn’t have the wi-fi password and unfortunately, the cell phone reception for the person filming our Facebook Live wasn’t very good and eventually dropped off all together. There were also kids practicing baseball just across the road and it was very loud at times.

My sincerest apologies to those of you who tried to watch online, the link to the video is below and it is on our Facebook page but I know it’s difficult to hear and incomplete.

Senator Liz Stefanics delivered a legislative update detailing what bills passed (or didn’t) in the last session as well as what she will continue working on. After redistricting, she has a lot more Valencia County precincts that she covers and it is clear when you listen to Sen. Stefanics that she truly cares about her constituency and getting to know her new territory.

Tami Bryant, our guest speaker, spoke about the Rural Caucus, the Native American Caucus, and the Veterans and Military Families Caucus. She is a dynamic speaker and again, is someone who truly cares about the folks that she is working to assist. She has a wealth of experience with marketing and is able to use that to the Caucuses’ advantage. We foresee working closely with her.

Attendees were able to ask questions and engage in a lively discussion with both of our speakers.

I spoke briefly about what we are doing now and what are future plans are for the Party. I know that didn’t make it onto the recording so if you’d like to read about our plans you can do so by clicking below.

I want to thank Senator Stefanics and Tami Bryant for joining us and everyone that hung in there and showed awesome flexibility when our plans changed. Thank you!!

Summer Ludwig, Chair
