You don’t need me to tell you that the upcoming midterm election is a vitally important one. The stakes are about as high as they can possibly be… but fortunately for Democratic voters here in Valencia County, the opportunities are significant.

We’ve got great candidates up and down the ballot including one of the few opportunities in the entire country to wrest a seat in the House of Representatives away from the GOP. We can protect our democracy nationally, secure women’s rights here in New Mexico, and keep our government in the hands of responsible and experienced leaders… but we can only do all that if every one of us votes.

Here’s the thing. Even with the best of intentions, it’s sometimes difficult or even impossible to get to the voting booth. That’s why mail-in voting is such an important option. If there is even the smallest chance that you might not be able to make it to the polls on election day, it’s not too late to guarantee you’ll be able to make a difference on Election Day regardless. The key is to act right now. And fortunately, it’s not difficult at all.

There are the three easy steps to voting by mail in the midterm elections:

  1. Make sure you’re registered to vote and that your voter information is correct. Just click here and follow the instructions.
  2. Request a Ballot Application from the Secretary of State. It’s important to do this as soon as possible. The deadline is November 3rd but there’s no reason to wait. Just click the link and do it right now.
  3. Your ballot will arrive shortly after your request is submitted (though October 11th is, by law, the earliest it can be sent). When it does arrive, read it carefully and follow the instructions to complete it and return it.

That’s it! That’s the whole process and it couldn’t be easier.

The GOP hates mail in voting for a reason. It’s the best way possible to ensure that everyone’s vote is counted on Election Day. When you think about how high the stakes are this year and how simple the process is, there’s literally no reason to wait. Request your mail-in ballot right now.

Rides to the Polls

The Democratic Party of Valencia County wants to ensure that folks can get to the polls. Because there is so much uncertainty about mail-in ballots this year, we are encouraging folks to vote early and vote in-person. We know that can be difficult for people to do and we want to help ensure that anyone that wants to vote can do so.
